About Ramey Wine Cellars
With the help of his wife, David Ramey founded Ramey Wine Cellars in 1996. He has succeeded in sourcing fruit from top Napa and Sonoma vineyards, producing remarkable Chardonnays that bridge the gap between California lushness and Burgundian minerality and structure.
2010 Ramey Wine Cellars Syrah Sonoma Coast
Producer: Ramey Wine Cellars
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Syrah/Shiraz
Origin: California
Region: Sonoma
91 Points | International Wine Cellar , May/June 2013
Inky purple. Pungent dark berries, olive and smoky herbs on the nose and in the mouth. Weighty and palate-coating, with slow-mounting tannins and a late jolt of cracked pepper on the clinging finish. I also had a chance to re-taste the 2009 version of this wine; it's showing intense, textbook syrah character right now, with vibrant dark berry character and pronounced spiciness. There's a Rhone-like quality to it that I find quite interesting and while it's drinkable now, it's also balanced to age slowly.
