(54% grenache, 24% shiraz, 16% cinsault and 6% mataro; 15% alcohol):  Bright purple.  Intensely perfumed aromas of red and dark berry preserves, potpourri and olive, with smoke and cracked pepper accents  Smells vaguely like a ripe wine from the northern Rhone.  Deep, palate-coating black raspberry and boysenberry flavors show impressive intensity and a bright floral quality.  The floral note carries through a very long, sappy and appealingly sweet finish, which shows no rough edges.  This is the most successful bottling of this wine I've had to date; the grapes are sourced from vines that reportedly average 85 to 150 years of age.
