Opaque ruby-purple.  Reticent nose hints at minerals, cassis and herbs.  On the palate, modest black fruit intensity and notes of bitter greens and coffee are trying to fight through the wine's oaky veneer.  Like many other Margaux in 2011, Desmirail is well made but does not appear to have enough fruit concentration for its tannins.
