89(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - June 2014

Purple-ruby.  Knockout nose of cassis, blueberry pie, sexy Oriental spices and minty violet, plus a whiff of soy-sauce reduction.  Dense and suave on the palate, with building sweetness, but lively acidity gives lift to the rich dark fruit flavors and gives the wine an attractive light touch.  The bright finish features youthfully chewy but fairly polished tannins.  I remember having worried about this wine's tannic personality at the Primeurs, but it has smoothed out considerably since then.  This should be a beauty in four or five years.  This is one estate that appears to have handled 2011 better than most.
