Purple-ruby. Fresh mineral nuances lift the smoky aromas of blackcurrant, flint and herbs. On the palate, lively violet and blackcurrant flavors are complicated by delicate earth tones and tar. Finishes bright, smooth and long, with lingering inky and licorice notes. This is still fairly closed but it's a superb showing for the year. De Fieuzal is another estate that has handled the 2011 vintage well; don't miss out on their white wine either.
