About Chateau Ausone
Once owned by the Roman poet and vintner, Ausonius, this St. Emilion First Growth is now managed by Alain Vauthier. Along with the limestone hillside where the old vines reside, Vauthier is largely responsible for Ausone's success. He acquired the estate after years of inter-family legal battles and has poured his heart and soul into the property.

(55% cabernet franc and 45% merlot; 29 h/h; 100% new oak): Fully saturated purple-ruby. Intense, rich aromas of cassis, ripe blackberry and violet, with a whiff of aromatic oak. Creamy, dense and full on entry, then tannic and oaky, with a peppery chocolate character complementing ripe cassis fruit. Finishes very long, but with slightly tough tannins today.
