Deep ruby-red. Brighter, more vibrant aromas of black raspberry, currant, mocha, nuts and sweet butter. Juicier and more delineated than the '97; less fat but impressively rich. The tannins come late and spread out over the entire palate. Finishes with superb persistence. Just 22 hectoliters per hectare were produced. Enjoy the '97 over the next six to eight years while waiting for this wine to reach its peak.
