Bright, pale yellow. Musky aromas of lemon curd, apple, ginger and vanilla cream. Dense, sappy and smooth, with terrific intensity and complexity and a sexy high-toned quality to the spicy citrus and orchard fruit flavors. Very pure, subtle fruit: not at all an overblown style of California chardonnay. Finishes with sneaky length. The 30% new oak punches up the wine's aromas without intruding.
Napa Valley is the most famous wine-growing area in the U.S. It begins at the base of Mount St. Helena in the north and tapers off some 30 miles to the south into the floodplain where the Napa River enters San Francisco Bay.
