(100% syrah, raised in older wood):  Bright ruby.  Complex, spice-accented aromas of cherry, licorice and woodsmoke, lifted by a violet topnote.  Dense, spicy and intense, with a peppery quality to its dark fruit compote flavors.  Aeration brings out brighter red fruits as well as a hint of cracked pepper that adds bite to the taut, focused, sneakily sweet finish.  There's always a good dose of young-vines Cornas in this wine, as well as some Cornas juice that didn't make the cut for the big boys in Voge's lineup.
