(100% clairette, planted in the same limestone-rich Gigondas vineyard that produces Barruol's red wine of the same name; white wines made in the appellation must be classified as "Cotes du Rhone"):  Pale gold.  Exotic, intensely perfumed and mineral-driven, offering scents and flavors of candied orange, peach and honeysuckle.  Rich but dry and focused, with excellent back-end lift and stony cut.  The finish lingers with impressive tenacity and features a suggestion of fennel.  These vines were planted by Barruol's father in 1963, in accordance with a tradition of growing clairette here that dates back to at least the 19th century.
