About Chateau Lafaurie Peyraguey

Values are tough to find in Sauternes, but this is certainly one of them, especially in the good vintages. The south facing slopes here provide the vines with ample sunlight and excellent drainage, producing a wonderfully rich, honeyed, tropical-fruity Sauternes with lovely balance and precision of flavor.

Bright golden yellow.  Deep, brooding nose opens with aeration to offer enticing aromas of quince, passion fruit, honeyed peach and smoky botrytis.  Dense, rich and suave, with oaky notes still dominating the creamy orange jam, mineral and spice flavors.  Finishes with excellent length.  This ripe, smooth Sauternes conveys an impression of austerity due to its bright harmonious acidity (6.5 g/l) and moderate 130 g/l residual sugar.  Still very young wine and in need of patience to develop fully, but I really like its penetrating, almost riesling-like personality.
