(53% grenache and 47% syrah this vintage):  Vivid ruby.  Intense red and dark berry aromas complicated by notes of rose, white pepper and licorice.  Explosive black raspberry and cherry compote flavors are firmed by a touch of bitter chocolate and show very good depth.  Dusty tannins give grip to a long, focused finish.  This wine acts like a mullet in reverse: party in the front, business in the back.
