More About This Wine
About Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils
The year 2002 marked a new start here. The Moreau family regained control of their estate vineyards, which had been out of their since 1985. Since then, Christian Moreau and his son Fabien have been producing richly flavored yet precise examples of Chablis.
2011 Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils Chablis Clos des Hospices
Producer: Domaine Christian Moreau Pere et Fils
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Chardonnay
Origin: France
Region: Burgundy
Appellation: Chablis
91-93 Points | International Wine Cellar , July/August 2012
(entirely in tank now): Bright, pale, green-tinged yellow. Highly aromatic nose offers scents of white peach, flowers, chlorophyll, spices and herbs. Fat, rich, supple and sweet; much more silky and less austere than the "regular" Clos. Lovely impression of sucrosite. Finishes with enticing lingering sweetness and a firm mineral edge. This wine become more integrated even with ten minutes in the glass; it should offer considerable near-term appeal and age well. For his part, Fabien Moreau finds it a bit "excessive" today and believes it will benefit from its remaining months of elevage.
