91(+?)? Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2012

Good dark red.  Wild aromas of musky plum, currant and tobacco complicated by smoky and truffley nuances.  Plush, plummy and full, with decadent game and truffle notes and a distinctly fat, tactile texture.  Sweeter and deeper than the 2007 normale, and seemingly more evolved aromatically.  Finishes with big, rich, tongue-coating tannins.  I would have mistaken this for the 2006 had I tasted the two wines blind:  the 2006 has more volume while the 2007 is more penetrating.
