91 Points | International Wine Cellar , August 2012

(100% chardonnay; cropped at 40 hectoliters per hectare; spent ten months in 50% new and 50% once-used French oak barriques):  Gold-tinged straw-yellow.  Floral notes of mimosa and orange blossom complicate rich honeyed aromas of banana, vanilla and minerals on the deep nose.  Suave and luscious in the mouth, but with very good freshness and lift to its rich banana, pineapple and buttery flavors.  The finish is smooth, bright and long.  This is one of the few chardonnays in Italy in which oak is used judiciously and where the classic character of high-quality chardonnay comes through clearly.

About Italy

Italy, like France, offers a world of wine styles within a single country: dry Italian white wines ranging from lively and minerally to powerful and full-bodied; cheap and cheerful Italian red wines in both a cooler, northern style and a richer, warmer southern style; structured, powerful reds capable of long aging in bottle; sparkling wines; sweet wines and dessert wines.
