About Domaine Zind Humbrecht
The properties of Zenon Humbrecht and Emile Zind merged in 1959 to form Zind-Humbrecht. The domaine now covers 40 hectares in five villages in the Haut-Rhin; its best parcels from four Grand Cru vineyards: Brand, Hengst, Goldert, and Clos St. Urbain on the steep slopes of Rangen.
2011 Domaine Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer
Producer: Domaine Zind Humbrecht
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Gewurztraminer
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
89 Points | International Wine Cellar , September 2012
Bright yellow-gold. Bright aromas of mango, lichee and smoked pork. Rich and suave in the mouth, with rich tropical fruit and spice flavors leavened by stony minerality. Enticing, balanced and persistent. Olivier Humbrecht makes it clear that he likes gewurztraminer with a meaty, smoky grilled bacon personality, rather than the floral stuff. "Would you want to drink rose water?" he asks.
