(fermented in concrete and then aged for 16 months in French oak barriques, half of them new):  Saturated ruby.  A deep bouquet offers blackcurrant, cherry pit, cola and vanilla, with smoke and mineral topnotes.  Broad and chewy on a palate showcasing intense dark fruit flavors along with sweet cola and licorice pastille.  Much more serious and brooding than the relatively feminine Llanos del Almendro, with more apparent concentration.  Finishes powerful and extremely long, with resonating spiciness and clinging dark fruit character.
