(80% merlot and 20% alicante bouschet):  Very deep purple-ruby.  Alicante bouschet-dominated aromas of bubble gum, superripe plum and vanilla.  Then surprisingly fresh and lively on the palate, with bright dark berry and black cherry flavors dominating.  The finish is chunky and sweet, with a lingering coffee nuance.  Like all wines with a percentage of alicante bouschet, this one delivers plenty of upfront fruity charm but lacks a little complexity:  these are wines meant to be drunk young.
