About Domaine Dirler-Cade
Founded in 1871 by one Jean Dirler in southern Alsace, this family-owned domain is now run, five generations later, by another Jean Dirler. Though it bottles Pinot Noir, the domain is best known for its dry, classically structured, mineral-rich white Alsace varietals.
2011 Domaine Dirler-Cade Pinot Gris Kessler
Producer: Domaine Dirler-Cade
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Pinot Grigio/Gris
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
91 Points | International Wine Cellar , September 2012
Bright gold-tinged yellow. Subtle aromas of honeyed tropical fruits and smoke. Broad, dense and a bit oily, with almost moderately sweet flavors of honeyed apple and white truffle. Slightly dusty and tactile on the lingering finish. From the deepest portion in the Kessler (mainly marly sandstone and clay). Try this big, buttery pinot gris with a salmon steak in cream sauce.
