About Domaine Dirler-Cade
Founded in 1871 by one Jean Dirler in southern Alsace, this family-owned domain is now run, five generations later, by another Jean Dirler. Though it bottles Pinot Noir, the domain is best known for its dry, classically structured, mineral-rich white Alsace varietals.
2010 Domaine Dirler-Cade Gewurztraminer Bux
Producer: Domaine Dirler-Cade
Style: White Wine
Grape Type: Gewurztraminer
Origin: France
Region: Alsace
91 Points | International Wine Cellar , September 2012
Bright straw. Wild, musky scents of ripe mango, venison and exotic spices are archetypical Alsace gewurztraminer. Lush, scented and exotic on the palate, conveying a sweet impression (70 g/l residual sugar), but thanks to firm acidity the smoky bacon and peach flavors do not come across as cloying or heavy. This is an excellent gewurz: those who appreciate big, fat examples will especially love it.
