About Beckmen Vineyards
When winemaker Steve Beckmen returned from Italy in 1997, he was convinced that his family's recently purchased hillside in Santa Barbara County would be perfect for growing Rhône varietals. His father Tom was skeptical, but since then, Purisima Mountain Vineyard has established itself as one of the finest sources of Syrah and Grenache in the Central Coast.
2010 Beckmen Vineyards Syrah Purisima Mountain Vineyard Santa Ynez Valley
Producer: Beckmen Vineyards
Style: Red Wine
Grape Type: Syrah/Shiraz
Origin: California
Region: Central Coast
Appellation: Santa Barbara
92 Points | International Wine Cellar , November/December 2012
Opaque ruby. Intense, spice-accented aromas of red and dark berries, violet, anise and black olive. Sappy and penetrating, offering gently sweet black raspberry and cherry flavors and an exotic touch of candied flowers. Becomes smokier with air and finishes with excellent clarity and lingering sweetness. Packs a serious punch but manages to come off as lithe and precise, which is a hallmark of the best wines of this vintage.
