Bright medium yellow.  The nose is dominated by smoke and lees, along with suggestions of diesel fuel and underbrush.  Nicely ripe in the mouth, with tangerine, lemon and more exotic fruit flavors that could use a little more acid lift and cut.  The slightly metallic finish offers good texture along with a repeating fusel quality.  Deiss told me that his low sulfur levels make his wines seem fuller-bodied and more evolved than others at the same stage of development.  Honestly, I like my Alsace wines a little fresher than this one.
