About Au Bon Climat
Since it was founded in 1982, Au Bon Climat has been a well respected producer of Burgundian-styled California wines. Jim Clendenen's Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs are mineral, focused and restrained in the early going, and sometimes quite oaky.

Light yellow-gold. High-pitched aromas of citrus and orchard fruits, with white pepper, chalk and floral nuances adding complexity. Dry and precise, offering tangy Meyer lemon and bitter pear skin flavors that pick up a note of tarragon with air. Taut and slow to open but finishes with very good bite and lingering lemon pith and honeysuckle qualities. Over the years I've learned to give Jim Clendenen's chardonnays plenty of time in bottle--or, if that's impossible, air.
