Deep ruby.  Powerful cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by floral and herbal nuances, with a subtle anise quality building with air.  Bitter cherry and dark berry flavors have great depth and show a chewy texture.  Gains sweetness on the long, youthfully tannic finish.  The most brawny and brooding of this vintage's set of Chateauneufs at this address, and the only one that will really demand cellaring.
