(85% grenache and 15% syrah; 17% alcohol, no joke):  Opaque ruby.  Smoky cherry and raspberry preserve aromas are brightened by a minerally note and a touch of white pepper.  Stains the palate with intense red fruit liqueur flavors and picks up energy with aeration.  Shockingly lithe and focused for its hefty alcohol content, finishing sweet, silky and very long.  Pretty impressive for the category, and obviously not for casual sipping.
