Sexy, smoky, sweet oak dominates the nose. Fat, thick and spicy in the mouth; quite dry for the vintage. Doesn't show the personality or shape of some of the last few premier crus. Rather unforthcoming today. 1997 is not a vintage for "downhill" wines, says Guffens-in direct contrast to '96.
