About Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue
With it's iconic rooster emblem, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue is one of the most recognizable and revered producers of the Cote de Nuits. Much of this has to do with the estate owning nearly three-quarters of the grand cru Musigny, considered by some to be the finest Pinot Noir vineyard in the world. Founded in 1450, Comte Georges de Vogue managed to gain early stakes in some of Burgundy's most exceptional vineyards.

(made from the estate's young vines in Musigny; racked two weeks before my visit): Good full, deep red. Red and black fruits, medicinal herbs and smoky underbrush on the nose, lifted by a mineral element. Nicely ripe, dry and smoky, with dark berry and menthol flavors showing a subtle sweetness. A saline limestone element gives cut and grip to the firm finish. More harmonious today than the village offering.
