About Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue
With it's iconic rooster emblem, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue is one of the most recognizable and revered producers of the Cote de Nuits. Much of this has to do with the estate owning nearly three-quarters of the grand cru Musigny, considered by some to be the finest Pinot Noir vineyard in the world. Founded in 1450, Comte Georges de Vogue managed to gain early stakes in some of Burgundy's most exceptional vineyards.

(racked a couple weeks prior to my visit): Saturated dark red. Fully ripe aromas of black raspberry, crushed stone, mocha, chocolate and spices. Horizontal on the attack, then superrich yet somehow vibrant too, showing excellent lift to the palate-saturating flavors of cassis, pomegranate and spices. Shows a jellied sweetness cut by a taste of limestone. Finishes savory, sweet and very long, with noble tannins and a piquant hint of red grapefruit. Really leaves the taste buds quivering.
