Bright red-ruby.  Reticent nose offers cassis, spices and chocolatey oak, plus a touch of minerality.  A juicy, spicy midweight with good intensity and spicy/herbal lift to its cool cassis and blackberry flavors.  Finishes with substantial fine tannins and very good length.  Plenty of definition and energy here:  this is excellent for a wine made in large volume.
