Rich gold. Expansive aromas of glazed pineapple, nut oil and lime drown in the brown-spice botrytis. Rich, dense tropical fruit flavors show a honeyed texture, but subtle acidity and salty mineral layers give shape and grip to the middle palate. Crisp spicy accents on the long finish. One of the finest wines of the vintage.
German vintners and Germany's wine law have often been their own worst enemies, and consumers understandably bemoan the unintelligibility of the labels as well as the mediocre quality of so many commercial-grade wines. The Riesling grape may scare away some wine novices.
