Inky purple.  Powerful aromas of blackberry, violet and licorice, with a smoky mineral note adding vivacity.  Sweet and pliant on entry, then spicy and focused in the mid-palate, offering lively black and blue fruit and violet pastille flavors.  At once ripe and energetic, with a juicy, subtly tannic finish that features notes of candied flowers and smoky bacon.  (The 2010 bottling of this wine is pretty shut down right now, based on what I got from it this winter.  It offers plenty of potential but at this moment that's all it seems to be showing, so let it rest for at least three more years.)
