(the young-vines cuvee, made from plantings that average around 50 years old, according to Balthazar):  Inky purple.  High-pitched aromas and flavors of cherry-cola, cracked pepper and spicecake, with a smoky accent in the background.  Juicy and precise, with very good depth and energy.  Closes on a juicy note, with very good clarity and an exotic floral touch.
