89-91 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - March/April 2013

Inky purple.  A pungent bouquet evokes cassis, blueberry, vanilla and mocha, with a smoky accent.  Lush and seamless on the palate, offering dark fruit preserve flavors brightened by gentle acidity and a peppery nuance.   Clings at length on the finish, leaving behind gently sweet black and blue fruit notes.  Desmeure told me that he was able to buy enough fruit from a grower (who he wouldn't name because of "politics") to make 5 barriques of this wine, his first from the appellation.
