88(+?)? Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - May/June 2013

(48% cabernet sauvignon, 45% merlot, 4% petit verdot, 2% malbec and 1% cabernet franc):  Good bright medium ruby.  Pure, subtly perfumed aromas of cassis, black cherry and chocolatey oak.  Rich and chewy but a bit youthfully tough today, showing limited flesh and sweetness.  Quite taut, even austere, finishing with a strong element of chocolatey oak and a touch of dryness.  A puzzling early showing for a wine that normally offers outstanding value.
