Saturated ruby.  Reticent but pure nose hints at dark berries, violet, minerals and black pepper.  Large-scaled, round, deep and sweet but with excellent juicy lift and definition; the most layered of these 2011s today.  Most impressive on the horizontal, perfumed back end, which features a fine dusting of tannins, a piquant herbal note and a whiplash of dark fruits.  A great showing today and one of the standouts of its vintage.

About Napa Valley

Napa Valley is the most famous wine-growing area in the U.S. It begins at the base of Mount St. Helena in the north and tapers off some 30 miles to the south into the floodplain where the Napa River enters San Francisco Bay.
