Youthful purple.  Vibrant, impressively complex scents of red- and blackcurrant, cherry compote, violet and musky earth.  Juicy, sweet and intensely perfumed, displaying excellent clarity and focus to its flavors of red and dark berries and candied flowers.  Concentrated, lithe and precise, finishing sweet, seamless and very long.  This is an even more striking bottling than the outstanding 2010 and is up to the standard set by the 2009.

About Beaujolais

Made from the Gamay grape, the red wines of Beaujolais are mostly exuberantly fruity and brisk wines that are often served lightly chilled for added refreshment. There is also a small amount of white Beaujolais, made from Chardonnay, but little of this is exported to the U.S. Today, the overwhelming majority of Beaujolais production is controlled by negociants, of whom Georges Duboeuf is the undisputed king.
