About Chateau Branaire Ducru
Chateau Branaire Ducru, a Fourth Growth estate which was once part of neighboring Chateau Beychevelle, is located on the lofty St. Julien-Beychevelle plateau in southern St. Julien. 50 hectares of vines surround the chateau, rooted deep into the alluvial gravel soil. The vineyards are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot.
88-91 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - April 2013
(68% cabernet sauvignon, 24% merlot, 5% petit verdot and 3% cabernet franc): Dark ruby. Very rich aromas of red cherry, cassis, cocoa, violet and minerals. Sweet and creamy in the mouth, with tactile red and black fruit and spicy mineral flavors carrying through to the long, perfumed finish, which features big but polished tannins. This lovely wine just screams Saint-Julien in its classically refined delivery of cabernet sauvignon.
