Opaque ruby. High-pitched aromas of black raspberry, lavender and musky herbs. Juicy, precise red berry flavors have very good depth but also show an elegant quality, with a bright mineral spine. A spicecake nuance adds an exotic touch to the long, sappy, gently tannic finish, which repeats the raspberry note. Morgan told me that he doesn't know the exact percentage breakdown of the varieties in this blend but says that it's roughly 40% zinfandel, 25% mourvedre and 25% carignane, with the rest a mix of assorted white grapes.
