90(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2013

(14.5% alcohol):  Bright red.  Reticent aromas of raspberry, red cherry, licorice, tobacco, black pepper and dill.  Dense, sweet and spicy but a bit youthfully folded in on itself presently; the hints of dill and fresh herbs carry through on the palate, but this intensely flavored wine becomes noticeably sweeter and suppler with aeration.  Finishes with good energy and mouthcoating tannins, though it's currently less complex than the 2007 Vigna Spuntali.  Decant this baby at least a couple of hours ahead.
