About Bethel Heights Vineyard
A family operation through and through, this Willamette Valley vineyard has been run by the Casteel—Dudley—Webb family conglomerate since 1977. It’s a testament to the possibilities of cooperation that 11, yes 11, family members are currently co-owners of the vineyard. There is also a profound respect for the environment here. Ted Casteel, one of the vineyard’s founders, also co-founded the Low Input Viticulture and Enology certification program for sustainable viticulture.
90(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - July/August 2013
Bright ruby-red. Displays scents of dried cherry, musky underbrush, woodsmoke and licorice, with a floral nuance adding vivacity. Chewy, deeply pitched bitter cherry and blackberry flavors are firmed by juicy acidity and become sweeter with air. Slow to unfold but has good depth. Finishes on a chewy note, with resonating spiciness and mounting tannins.
