93(+?) Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - November/December 2013

(35% cabernet franc, 29% cabernet sauvignon and 18% each merlot and petit verdot):  Good deep medium red.  Pungent spicy lift to the aromas of blueberry, licorice, black pepper and bitter chocolate.  Juicy, spicy and penetrating but with good density--and even a silkiness--to its dark berry and pink peppercorn flavors.  Finishes with a firm spine of acidity and terrific building length.  Ben Smith noted that Brix levels in 2011 were a full degree lower than those of 2010.  He declined to show his other 2011s as he has pushed back the release date of all but his Coda blend until the fall of 2014.
