About Beckmen Vineyards

When winemaker Steve Beckmen returned from Italy in 1997, he was convinced that his family's recently purchased hillside in Santa Barbara County would be perfect for growing Rhône varietals. His father Tom was skeptical, but since then, Purisima Mountain Vineyard has established itself as one of the finest sources of Syrah and Grenache in the Central Coast.

I've loved Beckmen's grenache for a while, but I was totally unprepared for the combination of finesse and sheer fruity joyfulness in this bottle. I can't wait to find out what a year or two in bottle will do for it.

I ordered this on the word of Wine Access and was completely surprised at how good it was for the price. I wound up finishing all 6 bottles I purchased, unfortunately holding nothing back for later on!
