About Chateau de la Maltroye
Old-timers in Chassagne remember times when the wines and vineyards here weren't nearly so coveted. When the Cournut family purchased the estate in 1940, the 6.5 acre plot behind the house was a vegetable garden. Today, the beautiful vines that run 200 meters down the hill behind the Chateau make up the priceless Maltroye 1er Cru holding, offering wines that sell for $70-$100/bottle.
88-91 Points | International Wine Cellar , September/October 2013
Pale yellow. Aromas of lemon oil, honey and wet stone; less fruity than the Chenevottes. Then supple on the palate, showing good ripeness to its flavors of oily yellow fruits and flinty minerals. Finishes with very good length. In a distinctly more pliant style than the 2011 version.
