(aged for two years in small French and American oak barrels): Opaque ruby. Assertive aromas of blackberry, bitter cherry, spicecake and floral pastilles. Sweet and expansive on entry, then tighter in the middle, with an alluringly perfumed quality to the dark berry, cherry-cola and vanilla flavors. Finishes sappy and long, with fine-grained tannins adding shape and grip.
