About Domaine Jean-Marc & Hugues Pavelot
Jean-Marc Pavelot, now joined by his son Hughes, maintains what is arguably the top estate in the underappreciated village of Savigny-lès-Beaune...
86-89 Points | Stephen Tanzer's IWC - January/February 2014
Good dark red. Aromas of blackberry, black raspberry and mocha show both roasted and medicinal qualities. On the palate, a slight acid streak runs through the black fruit, violet and stone flavors. Finishes on the dry side, with lingering dark berry and soil flavors. (The village Savigny-les-Beaune showed good concentration and a touch of sweetness, but an element of rusticity and slightly hard tannins--perhaps the result of hail--limited my enthusiasm.)
