Very deep red.  Highly nuanced, pungent nose combines floral raspberry, sour red cherry, minerals and earth, along with a subtle flinty element.  Broad, suave and fine-grained yet weightless; this has the dimension of a really great aglianico.  Finishes with lively acids that bring the red fruit flavors into focus and substantial creamy tannins that call for a few years of patience.  There's a lovely lingering minerality that lasts and lasts.  Great wine.

About Italy

Italy, like France, offers a world of wine styles within a single country: dry Italian white wines ranging from lively and minerally to powerful and full-bodied; cheap and cheerful Italian red wines in both a cooler, northern style and a richer, warmer southern style; structured, powerful reds capable of long aging in bottle; sparkling wines; sweet wines and dessert wines.
