About Louis Roederer
Of all the best large Champagne houses, Roederer draws most heavily from its own vineyard holdings, the majority of which are in grand cru sites. Older wines are liberally used in the rich, complex non-vintage blend. Roederer's super-expensive prestige cuvée, Cristal... more

We are reminded of Roederer's California wines when we taste this one. This French version is a bit less fruity and bit richer in aged yeast, yet the family style featuring generous fruit and creamy, toasty yeastiness comes through clearly. Tiny, pinpointy carbonation and a long, lively finish complete the picture of this top-ranked Brut.
Green-gold. Potent aromas of pear and apple liqueur plus an exotic note of fresh mushroom on the ripe, smoky nose. Deep, rich and concentrated, with a tangy note of white pepper adding interest and lift to the buttery orchard fruit flavors. The full, smoky finish shows a clinging, sappy quality and striking length.
Bright aromas of green apple, orange peel, ginger, chalk and mint, along with a faint metallic quality. Rich and creamy in the middle but with a firm spine of acidity. Complicating toasty nuance. A medium to full non-vintage brut that perfect for drinking right now. Finishes ripe, persistent and toasty.
Pale gold color. Fresh, floral notes of honeysuckle and rose petal, with complicating suggestions of beeswax and smoke. Round and nicely concentrated, showing baked apple, pear and subtle maple flavors. Rich and weighty on the finish, which picks up a ripe, exotic passion fruit quality.
Bright aromas of orange, acacia honey and toast. Brisk and lively in the mouth, with spicy flavors of quince, pear and cinnamon apple. Boasts very good density and extract. Spice notes lift the subtle, lingering finish. Not a wine of great individuality but better than most basic non-vintage brut bottlings.

Very difficult to find a better non vintage, perfect balance, between youth and age, vinosity and freshness, delicate and rounded.

Beautiful thick mousse gives way to extensive micro-carbonation. Bubbles cling to all parts of the flute with a full, biscuity nose. Definitely superior to the Vueve Cliquot Yellow Label for those who desire a full-bodied, yeasty champagne. The Roederer also rivals the slightly more expensive Bollinger Special Cuvee. I will definitely buy this wine again.

It is difficult to imagine that we drank the same wine as the previous reviewers. Fragrances and flavors of meat and leather gave way in about half an hour to a yeasty wine with a creamy texture. We paired it with a hot Washington summer evening, steamed fresh Maine lobster, buttered corn and bread, and smiled from ear to ear with pleasure. Not, however, a wine that we would likely want to drink without rich food.

I've had at least 10 bottles of this and it's my favorite everyday champagne. This is a very good bubbly at a very reasonable price (sells for about $33 where I live). I like it better than the NV Veuve Cliquot but you may disagee based on your taste preferences.

I like this very much. Not as elegant as Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label. But more boiserous. Perfect New Year's eve champagne.

I choose this for my Y2K celebration, and it did not disappoint. Beautiful, long lasting flavor, lots of yeast, good acidity. Too bad it can be had in France for FF140, or US$20.

Pretty decent as far as NV French goes. Fairly creamy and subdued style. Definitely shouldn't offend anyone. Possibly overpriced though.

Lack of character. Why lose money on Roederer when you can buy Bollinger for a better price?! To be avoided at all costs, unless you read the Wine Spectator and are supporting a $ 25.000 campaign ! burk!!!!!!!!!!
