($45) Pale gold. Fresh peach, pear and nectarine on the nose, with a complicating note of white flowers. Fleshy, plush and ripe, with strong peach and ripe pear flavors in a more powerful and less restrained style than last year's release. Firms up on the finish, picking up a mineral note and showing very good balance and length.

My wife and I love this champagne. It's become our favorite in this price range, passing Vueve Cliquot.

Gorgeous intro of smoky, creamy, oak-wise aromas lead into a flavor package that is very broad, smooth and luxurious. The acids offer just enough support to the white fruit, cream and toast flavors. Absolutely no rough edges while still complex and intriguing. 94 POINTS. 2-16-2001

France is the fountainhead of the grape varieties most craved by North American wine drinkers: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Chardonnay, and Sauvignon Blanc. In fact, these grapes are widely referred to as "international" varieties because they have been planted and imitated all over the world.
