About Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin
Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin was founded in 1772 by Philippe Clicquot-Muiron, but it was his daughter-in-law, Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin who would catapult it to greatness. The empire that Madam Clicquot built now includes 360 hectares of vines, including 12 of the 17 Grand Crus in Champagne.

($85) Pale orange-pink. Aromas of candied raspberry and nut skin, with a suggestion of some mature juice. Ripe and vinous, with red berry flavors complicated by a nutty nuance. A fairly large-scaled, rich dinner-table Champagne with an oily texture but also good cut, and plenty of breadth on the lingering back end.
