Fabulous Effort

In my opinion the more recent vintages of Opus One seem to be losing their excellence. However, after drinking this bottle of 1995 in January of 2009 I am reminded of what made me love it. This wine is amazing.
TREMENDOUS EFFORT

This vintage of opus is a TREMENDOUS effort, and I feel,a very under-rated one. This classic vintage starts with vivid Plums, cassis, black cherries, and blends into smokey-bar-b-que and pain grille flavors and into wet stone/damp earth nuances, followed still by leather and vanilla oak with a very long finish....SUPERB in every way !!!
Great in 2000 - even better in 2003

We have all heard that you get what you pay for..., this wine is almost perfect.
Pricey, but delicious.

This stuff is absurdly priced, but damn, it is nice. Juicy plum and berry exude from this Bourdeaux-like meritage. Tasted in Oct. 1999 and Sept. 2000 -- still needs some time in the bottle.
Inflated egos and inflated pricing.

This is a ridiculously overpriced wine that is only matched by Mr. Mondavi's ego. The Beaulieu '97 Georges de Latour Cabernet Sauvignon is 100 times better and less expensive, too.
